What is Documentary Wedding Photography?

Documentary wedding photography, also known as "photojournalism" is about having your wedding day captured in a way that feels natural, unposed, and true to the emotions of the day. Instead of spending the entire time arranging formal group shots or perfecting every photo, you can expect me to blend into the background for the most part, capturing moments as they happen.

This style of photography means that you’re getting an authentic representation of your wedding, with real laughter, joyful tears, intimate glances, and candid interactions between friends and family. I love to focus on the sometimes unnoticed details that tell the story—like a parent or grandparent's proud expression, or the way you look at each other during your first dance, or the small gestures between you and your loved ones throughout the day.

For couples, I want you to feel less like you're being "photographed" and more like you're enjoying the day with all of your favorite people. It’s a wonderful way to relive the raw, emotional parts of the celebration that you can look back on for years to come and remember exactly how it felt in the moment.

That's my game plan every time. I simply pay attention so that you can have lasting memories, I don't want to just check all the boxes on the shot list for the day of the wedding. We're in it for the long haul, for the good times and bad, in sickness and in health. Forever.
