Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions:
What should I wear for my photo session?
This is definitely the most common question. MAny people think black is the best option for its “slimming” reputation, however I typically choose white as my go to!
>>Solid, lighter colors are ideal for family photos for their timeless feel. If you are looking for that true “light + airy” aesthetic, then solid white, pastels, or light tan/neutral creams are perfect. In addition, they also transfer very nicely to black and white images.
Lighter colors add a fine art essence to the overall appearance of your photos.
>>Many people love to wear printed patterns, which can be nice for seasonal photos. However, it can sometimes present as distracting in portraits where the main goal is to capture your beautiful faces. if you choose a pattern, be sure it is larger than a dime in circumference. Here are some examples of patterned options that turned out well!
>>Matching? You want your family to coordinate colors but you do not have to match 100% exactly perfect. Styles change from year to year, but typically long flowy dresses for mom and jeans and a solid casual shirt for Dad are perfect. Obv kids are pretty cute no matter what! You totally do not have to spend hundreds of dollars on perfectly smocked or heirloom dresses for girls (unless you want to of course!) because chances are they are going to have fun and get a little dirty during our session unless we are in studio.

>>Main takeaway on what to wear:
you should feel comfortable in what you and your family wear. don’t try to force yourself or kids into something that is either not flattering or that they don’t want to wear, because ultimately we want everyone to be relaxed and have fun making memories! The last thing I want is for you to come away from your session remembering the fight to get the kids dressed. (trust me I’ve been there too many times with my toddler!)
What if my kids don’t behave?
it is rare to find kids that are perfectly behaved for every session! trust me, I have 3 kids of my own ages 2.5 and twins 8 months. I am used to total chaos, crying, tantrums, etc. and it DOES. NOT. PHASE. ME. i prefer to let the kids get warmed up for a bit in the beginning. it is helpful to have something for them to hold in their hand and occupy busy fingers and minds. this is something i usually provide during our session, but if your child has a favorite toy it is a great idea to bring that along. I like to let them explore the setting and be adventurous. This allows them to gain confidence and we can hopefully snap some cute candids. it is better to let them do their thing instead of forcing them to sit perfectly still and posed (LOL). as they start to have fun, they will usually be more willing to cooperate and smile genuinely towards the end. The last 5 minutes of each session is where the best photos are captured!
>>so don’t stress if you think your child is terrible and there are no good shots, because i 100% promise we will get some great shots! Here are some candid examples from the beginning of a few sessions.
What if there are specific things I want for my session?
I want all of my clients to be 110% satisfied with the gallery of images they receive. i love fresh ideas and adding new options to offer. i do my best to communicate effectively with clients prior to each session to ask this exact question. the more specific you can be, the better the outcome!

What is your turnaround time?
I usually try to have images back to you asap! But occasionally it can be up to two weeks. My family comes first, and I also don’t want to rush through editing your images! if you need your images back by a certain date, please let me know and i will do the best i can to make that happen!
